Dunwoody Real Estate

What started out as a “far out” suburb today is a prosperous, predominately white collar neighborhood (83.5% residents are in that category and the median income is $100,000) of 30,000+ residents. The area is known for its good schools, low crime, small town feel and proximity to all major expressways on I-285 with the city of Atlanta just 14 miles away and reachable by MARTA. The area is the cornerstone of Atlanta’s high-tech job market. It is often referred to as the “tennis set” because of numerous recreational outlets that include the unspoiled beauty of the Marsh Creek Nature Preserve and Brook Run, where local residents are generally found jogging, roller blading, biking, picnicking or simply relaxing. The nearby Perimeter Mall provides more civilized pursuits such as shopping, dining and various types of entertainment that include a community theatre, the Dunwoody Stage Door Players.

Dunwoody Homes For Sale

Real estate prices have tended to soar here in recent years in part because of the close-in location in a wooded suburban setting with homes boasting large lots. Residents find they have a rare combination of country living with city amenities nearby. From I-285, it’s a quick drive to just about anywhere in Atlanta. Downtown is 20 minutes away and the airport 40 minutes. The neighborhood is popular with upwardly mobile professionals. A variety of housing includes variously-sized town homes, ranch-style houses and mini-mansions with highly manicured lawns. Popular subdivisions include Ashford Chase, Chateau Woods, Fairfield, Hunter Crossing, Redfield, River Bluff, Saddle Ridge, Spalding Lakes and Village Springs. A particularly popular development is Dunwoody North, an area known for its active swim/tennis association called the Dunwoody North Driving Club. The “Driving Club,” as it is known to residents, has year-round socials and seasonal parties for children. Residents are also known for their social activism and Dunwoody North Civic Association is well-known for its various civic and real estate causes. This is a tightly-knit community where it’s not unusual for some groups to meet after work or after meetings at the Ye Olde Dunwoody Tavern, which is often voted “best neighborhood bar” in the Atlanta area.
